ClamWin: AV Engine Outdated

Using latest version and latest DB update and after memory scan today, received message that AV engine was out of date. Is this being updated in a newer version not released or how does one update this?

The easiest

way is to wait till PortableApps.com releases an upate. But last time I checked, our latest version (0.93.1) was the newest available version.

Step by Step

1. Relax!
2. Realize that ClamAV is an independent (Linux) product from ClamWin and definitions files will often signal you that your engine is out of date even though it isn't (since the Windows version hasn't been released yet).
3. Wait for ClamWin and then ClamWin Portable to be updated. We'll update within a day of ClamWin itself.

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

Hmm an application that claims to be out of date while no Windows build has been made available is a bit of bad. Maybe this is a problem with the app changing ownership. Don't be surprised if the only changes are made to facilitate new branding.

This has happened before

This has happened before and has nothing to do with the change in ownership.
Following up on what John said,

I can only put this in Non-Dev speak so forgive the inaccuracies to follow,

The "engine" checks to see if there is a newer engine at ClawAV, if there is it reports it. The engine is unaware that it has been put into a Windows package and that you need to wait for a windows version of the engine to be made available.

Think of it like FF.
FF tells you an update is available.
It does not know that you are using the portable version and can't/shouldn't update in the normal manner, but that you should wait for PortableApps.com to release a newer version.

ClamAV updates, ClamWin needs time to package and test the new engine, PortableApps.com needs time to package the new version of CWP.

Bye the way, in my case the message goes by so fast and then disappears at the end of the scan that I don't know how you had time to read it.

Could you post the exact message, as i said I can't read it.
And no, the changes will not be just branding changes Blum

Reading ClamWin messages

Have a look at the logfiles in X:\PortableApps\ClamWinPortable\Data\log\. There you can find all the messages from scanning and updating.

True

True, I forgot about that.
I was just surprised he could read it as it went by so fast Blum

Since I know what it means and wasn't worried about it I forgot where to look Sad

I always auto-update FF portable, it works fine?

yes,but..

sometimes there are issues; as posted here many times: autoupdate overwrites the settings for a local FF; you have none? well, ok. But if you have one you should check your software registry entries, they will point to your PortableFF...
