Updated internal version of NSIS. I'd say this is just about ready to go. Patrick, wanna pick apart the PAF stuff for me?
You are here
NSIS 2.38 Portable Development Test 2
I was disappointed to see that it still calls nsExec::ExecToStack
instead of ExecDos::exec
, and ExecDos.dll wasn't added as a default plugin after this post.
However, I do understand that the other suggested modifications would require some time to review before responding.

Oops...i completely forgot about that. I'll see what I can do later tonight.
Hope it becomes offical
Can;t wait
Hope it becomes offical Cannot Wait
Updated to 2.37 Dev Test 2 to fix some bugs. I haven't yet implemented haustin's suggestions
Update title to reflect test 2 please
i could have sworn i did that...oops
but i cant currently see anything wrong with this release, i have compiled some scripts and all of them have worked fine as well as all of the other fetures i like to fiddle with.Nice Work!
thanks. this one should be good to go...i just need Patrick to pick apart the PAF stuff one last time and John has to make a splash screen. I'm surprised John hasn't given this app more attention considering NSIS is used for all the apps here.
Here sir, are the changes:
- In the help.html file, genericsize the NSIS Portable-Specific Issues. See --> Jooleem Portable.
- Add a title to the Other\Source\Readme.txt without the version number.
- Genericisize App\Readme.txt.
- Do something about the icons in AppInfo.
- Any reason it's not UPXed?
That's it! (I think : ))
thanks patrick, i've made the changes
Version 2.37 installer includes the default nsisconf.nsh in the App\NSIS directory. The Rename in MoveSettings will not overwrite the default, thereby ignoring the Include and Plugins under Data.

P.S. Any follow-up on my previous suggestions?
Thanks for catching that. I thought I had deleted that file, i'll reupload later today when I have a bit more free time.
As for your previous suggestions, free time has been really limited for me lately, I do still plan on working your suggestions in though.
Just a heads up - ClamWin portable is detecting a trojan. False-Positive.
Please delete double post
Updated NSIS version to 2.38
You put 2.37 in your release notes.
I forgot to update all the 2.37s except for the installer lol...my bad
New package up, didnt change DT version because all I changed was the missed 2.37 values
Even though I may not have commented yet, I've been enjoying NSIS Portable for a while with no problems whatsoever. Up until the latest release (2.38), it was working excellently without problems (that I noticed, at least).
I updated to version 2.38, and I was having a lot of problems, namely with includes (like FileFunc.nsh). NSIS Portable would simply not recognize them. I'm not sure if this is an NSIS issue or a launcher issue, but hopefully it can be resolved.
Odd. I'll test this out with trying to compile a few other apps and report back.
What script were you trying to compile that caused issues? I successfully compiled all the launchers and installers for all of the apps that i've made, and for GIMP Portable.
I was trying to compile the MediaCoder launcher and the PortableApps.com Installer version 0.9.9.5. I'll try doing a fresh install and see how that works.
EDIT:
Extremely odd, but a fresh install fixes it (at least on my XP machine). I'll try it on my Vista machine as well, but it's fixed for now.
glad to hear it's fixed
Updated to 2.38 Dev Test 2. see main post for details
The text of the download link should read "Dev Test 2".
With dev test 1 there was a two letter language code en-us in the file name which is missing now. Does that mean it's multilingual now?
Newer Version of NSIS-2.39 http://nsis.sourceforge.net/Main_Page
Just giving you the heads up.
Thanks. I'm a bit behind on updating some of my apps since school started. I'll try to get back on track this weekend.
No worries
I'm gonna drop in the new binaries
And now NSIS-2.40 is released.
I know how it is with classes, though.
Just wondering if this is going to be updated. I saw it talked about but I haven't seen anything new. If you dropped it that is fine.
I'm updating all my apps this week(end). My course load at school is finally decreasing a little bit
Well no rush.
Sorry for the TRIPLE posts. Was on at 8:30 at night and internet slowed WAY DOWN!!!
2.41 has been released.
I tried downloading with three different browsers. The server always punts at 99% through the download. I would love to test this portable!
I've posted the updated files to brand the NSIS menu:
https://portableapps.com/temp/NSISPortable-Menu.zip
We'll use this instead of a splash. The files go in the App\nsis\menu directory and replace the existing index.html within the current 2.43 release. The footer images are new. You can remove the existing line and footer images. We'll need to keep an eye on index.html for changes between versions.
Please package it up with the new release and call it a pre-release
I'm no longer developing this (at least not until May again, school is turning out to be a killer lately) Either Zach T or Jacob volunteered to take this one over, I dont remember which it was though.
twas me and thanks John. I'll post the update now
Any word on the update yet?
Yup look for tomorrow I'm releasing it then.
