Hi,
I would like to open a PDF file on my computer using the Sumatra PDF Portable application.
Currently, the only way to do so is to open the application, and select File->Open from its user interface. Another option would be to open the application, then drag'n'drop the PDF file on its window.
I would like to have the option to drag'n'drop the file on the PortableApps icon in the system tray. The PortableApps application would know the association between the file type and the portable application (which was registered during the application installation process). It will then launch the portable application with the dropped file's name as an argument, which would result with the file being opened by the portable application.
Another feature would be to associate a context menu handler application, which would allow the user to right-click the file in Windows Explorer, select 'Open with PortableApp'. The downside of this, is that this enhancement requires an installation of a foreign software in the host system, and it would only work for users with administrative privileges...
Thanks,
Tomer
though classified as outdated it still works fine for me

Try my app, PFA. It's meant to create portable file associations, and works on accounts that don't have admin privileges.
(I don't really like .eXpresso) really gets the job done smoothly. And then if you want the host association you right click open.
