we sereously need to implement a different file format to replace JPEG when theming. i came across this problem when i was making one of my recent themes. nomatter what i did or what program i used when saving to JPEG, the file is compressed in such a way that the color ff00ff, used for transparency, is smudged into the other colors thus altering it from the original color and making it show up when implemented onto the PAM. and i know that this is not due to the top bitmap layer becausei have never had a problem with this until this theme, but up until this time, when saving to a JPEG, i have never had the colors mix.

I don't see any other problem with the other themes, did you just try erasing it with GIMP? (the border)

multiple times. i have also tried simply taking the bmp and saving it as a jpg since the bmp has no errors and it still had the smudging effect.

that's the problem by converting jpg to bmp. you could convert it simply and using it. the colors are always smudged. you have to set the magic color pixel by pixel, and there's always a hard border.
- the background.jpg is overlayed by the background_top.bmp. Parts of it will only be shown if the background.jpg is larger than the background_top.bmp.

It's a mod theme, nevertheless it's a good sample. The base pic is a jpg, but all parts where I need a transparent color are in the background-top, like choker and shoulder.
when you are using a background-top image in the same size (if you are needing round corners at the bottom) like the background top, there's also no need to make a background-image, cause it never will be shown. You easily make a white background.jpg with max compression, saving file size (look at the screwed-theme).

Like MrE mentioned, just use a background_top.bmp for the ENTIRE theme image since you have rounded corners on the bottom. This won't be an issue in the next release as it uses a single PNG for the whole background.

what i was doing was saving the original theme file as background_top.bmp and then right after that i re-saved it as background.jpg.
also, me and ptmb worked out the problem, dont know what he did but all of the pink dots dissapeared.
