I love cool player+ because it's so simple and uses only like 4-5mb of ram, but one thing it doesn't do is play FLAC.
So I was wondering if perhaps you can add the codec somehow, or if there is another light program that plays flac in addition to mp3 and ogg.
I would use VLC, but it takes a while to load and isn't very light(40+mb of ram).
Mplayer Portable will play that for you https://portableapps.com/apps/music_video/mplayer_portable

Coolplayer will play .flac. Get the plugin here:
http://coolplayer.sourceforge.net/?plugins
Where to put the plugins? The Homepage says to put them to the executable, not into a subdir. But I can't seem to get them loaded, no matter where I put them.
To make CoolPlayer+ plus work with plugins, you put them in the app's directory. I assume you're putting the .dll files in the root of the PortableApp and that's not correct.
To get FLAC to work, do the following:
Download this file:
http://downloads.sourceforge.net/flac/flac-1.2.1-win.zip?modtime=1189962...
Extract the files and copy the in_flac.dll file to your \PortableApps\CoolPlayer+Portable\App\CoolPlayer+ directory

XMPlay. Very fast and light and plays all popular music formats.

+1 for XMPlay here too. And it's gapless.
KMPlayer can be installed to your USB & auto-portabilize if you select in the general preferences the option of writing preferences to its own config.ini.
But it isn't as simple as CP+
But we neither support nor recommend it since it is closed source and has violated the GPL.
