Poratable Quake 3 demo

I downloaded the free demo from ID Software's website for Quake 3, and tried to install it to my thumb drive. It seems to have worked and I've used it on a computer that has never used Portable Apps before. I was just wondering if anyone else had an issue with this or has there been any known issues with using Quake 3 (demo) from a USB drive?

Welcome!

Welcome to PortableApps.com!

Secondly, I don't entirely think that just copying it to your thumb drive makes it portable, (it would be nice to have a laucher though). Most programs write to the registry and leave trash data behind, unlike the PortableApps.com applications. Those apps have been modified in order to run smoothly and cleanly on any windows pc.

OP asks for issues=solid data. He (she) seems to know what is (s)he looking for.
Therefore your comment is plainly useless, except for the welcome part.
(Hello crash, good to have a new forum member.)

I would stop to write this though if your information was relevant to the topic. Games very rarely write to the registry. They often don't leave anything behind either.

AFAIR Quake is fully portable by itself. Even more portable than PA.com requires, as it has full path portability. I didn't post this before because I'm not 100% sure though.

While the game engine of

While the game engine of Quake 3 has been made open source the game's content is not. There is a project called IOQuake3 and I made a launcher for it. You would need the Quake 3 CD, but it makes the game playable on modern machines, other operating systems and so on. If you would try an open source variation try Open Arena, which has provided game content as well.

If the IOQuake 3 project supports the demo as well I don't know but if it does you might try the IOQuake launcher for portable apps.

After some searching I see

After some searching I see that I misunderstood your post, I thought that IOQuake 3 is a project that takes Q3 sources and adds free maps, models, textures and all the rest needed to make a truly free Quake3.
That's why I joked that as the best map can be gathered for free - the rest is not needed.
I really didn't want to discredit neither your nor IOQuake team's work, sorry if you felt that I did.
