I think if you translate your website in more language, more people can visited your website and more people can donate for your website. I'm french.
Je pense que si vous traduisez votre site web dans plus de langue, plus de gens pourrons visiter votre site web et plus de gens pourrons donner pour votre site web. Je suis Français.

Portable Emacs Release -- EmacsPortable 23.1.0.12

Submitted by mfidler on January 14, 2010 - 12:38pm

I have created a portable emacs distribution for Emacs 23.1 (EmacsPortable 23.1.0.12). I have described it at:

http://esnm.sourceforge.net/EmacsPortable.html

It assumes your Documents under your USB drive is your home-path. It can be installed locally to speed up the Execution. Afterward, EmacsPortable launches the local installation if present. If run locally with the USB drive in, it will use the emacs customizations from the USB drive. Otherwise it will use the customizations in the windows home directory.

help needed for nsis script and portabletor

Submitted by Zalica on January 14, 2010 - 1:39am

As portabletor(http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=194105) is not updating recently,I tried to compile portabltor using its source code. I worked fine except when I enabled the "help censored users reach the Tor network." or relay traffic for the tor network.

If I enable to option, it shows in the log as follow:

"Failed to open GEOIP file C:\Documents and Settings\myusername\Application Data\tor\geoip. We've been configured to see which countries can access us as a bridge, and we need GEOIP information to tell which countries clients are in."

[Outdated] Steam Portable

Submitted by Benedikt93 on January 7, 2010 - 11:57am

With the help of radarman36, I'm now doing this. A first dev test release is available here.

As I am considering creating a launcher to make the Steam platform portable I'd like to know some things before:

  • Is there some interest in this?
  • To the admins: would such an app still fit the site limits and could be hosted here as Steam itself is free but the games are not?

Of course this won't contain any hacks or modification to the app's files.

Mobility - WM6, Android, iPhone, Palm, Blackberry

Submitted by webwill on January 5, 2010 - 9:46pm

So I have been thinking about some things including mobility and virus problems.

Now lies the problem of I have plugged my device into a system and the Autorun is automatically removed due to system policy, and it is out of my control.

So now, I got to thinking about ways to prevent this. Some USB devices have a switch to make them read only. This is fine if you have that physical switch and do not need to make changes to any files or copy anything onto the device.

pa creator

some people were complaining that pam can't import normal applications and with a click import it in the menu.
There are people who don't need completely portable, no traces behind, software. They just want to be able to plug and launch their favourite apps.
Other people download apps at other websites which offer portable apps but not In the right format.

I want to write that and I am thinking in the way of generating a .lnk file pointing to the software who is copied in the apps map.
at appinfo.ini, can it handles a .lnk file instead of a exe file?
do you have a better idea?
