I know both Patrick and Ryan have offered help so I thought I would set up a separate forum topic for CDisplayEx.

I am trying to find a place to start in order to run applications I as portable. How can you check to see if a program meets the PortableApps requirements as far as files or registry entries being left behind on the host computer? (i.e. software that checks to see if settings on a computer has been changed, etc.) Where do you look to see if files or registry entries are created on a host computer? Is there any software that can help to make a regular application portable? Thanks in advanced for any information you have that can lead me in the right direction.

I was thinking that I'd try my hand at making an installer and was wondering what tools people use to monitor an installation of an app and its running to determine if any registry changes etc are made.

I have a lot of ideas that can improve PortableApps.com Srevices (that are already great, by the way).

Resuming, is to provide a PortableApps.com Package Manager and repositories; and to portabilize the apps that can't be made portable in a way that wont confuse the average user.

For starting: a PortableApps.com repository with a matching up PortableApps.com Package Manager.

Used Reg Rapper to capture setting in an ini.

I tried to use Reg Shot to see if it works. Could not get Reg Shot to work.

Can someone check and see if it leaves registry settings?

although i'm new in the forum and in developing portable apps, i've just finished the launcher for an app and i'm beginning to develop the installer. for this, i downloaded the Sumatra PDF, and modifying the messages. but when i compile the script i get 5 errors in the MUI_LANGUAGE macro:
-MUI_WELCOMEFINISHPAGE_INIT on macroline 5
-MUI_GUIINIT on macroline 2
-MUI_FUNCTION_GUIINIT on macroline 4
-MUI_INSERT on macroline 11
-MUI_LANGUAGE on macroline 7

why this happen? how could i to fix it?

In an app im porting i need to set the paths of some files for it to run is there a way to get the drive letter which the portable app is running from using the launcher??

When using Registry Rapper with Portable Apps the menu shows "Registry Rapper" as the application name - is there a way to change this to the name of the application that Registry Rapper launches?
