New in This Release

In this release, Firefox has been updated to 3.0.2 (release notes) and has an improved launcher and installer.

Reminder: Don't Auto-Update

We also wanted to remind everyone not to use the built in auto-updater with Mozilla Firefox, Portable Edition due to an unfixed bug in the updater itself. As with all software in Format, you can do an in-place upgrade (install the new version right over the old one) and all your data will be preserved. More here: Upgrading Mozilla Firefox, Portable Edition and Bug 406335. Installer / Format

Mozilla Firefox, Portable Edition is packaged in a Installer so it will automatically detect an existing installation when your drive is plugged in. And it's in Format, so it automatically works with the Suite including the Menu and Backup Utility.

Mozilla Firefox, Portable Edition is available for immediate download from the Mozilla Firefox, Portable Edition homepage. You can get the German release from the German homepage and the French, Italian, Japanese and Simplified Chinese releases from the Localization page. Get it today!

Story Topic:

Holy cow! Why did it take so long to get this update out?

(That was just a joke, okay? What really amazes me is how quickly you released this update. Thanks again.)

The update was quick.

But am I right that Mozilla doesn't allow you to release the portable version before they release the regular version?

John T. Haller's picture

We only do a release after Mozilla has posted the binaries and announced it on their product homepage. To do otherwise is irresponsible.

You would think the "view more information about this update" link would open in a tab.

CN was inadvertently lowercase on the site but uppercase in the filename. Will take 10 minutes for users not logged in to see the change.
