Thanks for your work on this Geoff.

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

Like the last time I tried to install portable blender my Virusprogram gives me a lot of identified trojans so please can you do like you did the last time so I also can install blender 2.49b.
I can't deactivate the virussystem because I don't have adminrights and thats why I use many portable programs.
My virus-program is McAfee and the trojans are:
F:\PortableApps\BlenderPortable\App\Blender\zlip.pyd
identified as: Artemis!F317BEBF5999
F:\PortableApps\BlenderPortable\App\Blender\vcomp90.dll
identified as: Artemis!517338AD94A0
F:\PortableApps\BlenderPortable\App\Blender\msvcr90.dll
identified as: Artemis!F4E404011B8E
The program refuses to start without them.

Thanks for many great programs!

It is a false positive on McAfee, you need to send the files to them to let them know if it is a FP,

Just a side note, someone else here would most likely point out the search bar at the top and the fact that this is a news story, and should not have troubleshooting posts in it.

Use this thread, if you really have to post anymore...
(that post is the blender dev, so I think he would know about FPs...)

Unfortunately zlib.pyd and vcomp90.dll are shown to be the artemis trojan by McAfee. These are false positives if you got the program from this site from either the official app list or the development test I have posted. I recently checked again with the McAfee install at work and the latest update we received still shows them as trojans.

For a work around until then you can download the blender 2.49b zip file from their download page. Extract the files you need and place them into BlenderPortable/App/Blender.

I have checked msvcr90.dll at virustotal but did not receive a warning.

Sounds like a false positive because they are compressed. The msvc*.dll files are not compressed in the current release, which is why I think they stopped erroring.

you could, but I don't think its designed for that, or intended to go that way.

Does this portable version of Blender save all files by default to the portable device? I want to install this on an external hard drive and keep everything there.
