logoJava Portable 6 Update 19 has been released by PortableApps.com. Java Portable allows you to easily install the Java runtime engine to your PortableApps.com-enabled device for use with portable apps like OpenOffice.org Portable, all without any Java runtime on the local PC. This release updates Java Portable to the latest release. It's packaged in PortableApps.com Format for easy use from any portable device and integration with the PortableApps.com Suite. And it's completely free.

Read on for more details...

Features

Java Portable allows you to easily add a Java runtime environment to your portable device. It automatically works with apps in PortableApps.com Format like OpenOffice.org Portable. No Java runtime environment needs to be installed on the local machine and no admin rights are required. The Sun JVM will be downloaded directly from Sun's servers as part of the installation process.

Java Portable Launcher

In addition to using Java Portable with portable apps packaged in PortableApps.com Format, you can also use our Java Portable Launcher to run Java apps in JAR format. It will even automatically portablize the settings of many Java apps.

Java Portable Apps Coming

This release of Java Portable marks the beginning of Java apps on the PortableApps.com Platform. We have an array of Java-based portable apps in testing and will begin releasing them soon.

PortableApps.com Installer / PortableApps.com Format

Java Portable is packaged as a PortableApps.com Installer so it will automatically detect an existing PortableApps.com installation when your drive is plugged in. It supports upgrades by installing right over an existing copy, preserving all settings. And it's in PortableApps.com Format, so it automatically works with the PortableApps.com Suite including the Menu and Backup Utility.

Download

Depending on which version of blackboard you use, you need to be careful about this. Of course, this only applies to the locally installed version of Java since Firefox Portable doesn't respect portable java (Java plugin at least)

Hi there, is there any opportunity to have an offline installation package?
The online version does not work properly here (the download seems to fail) and the error message is not really helpful to solve the problem ...

Due to licensing reasons we can't do this. That's why it's an online installer.

... for the explanation.
I think I'll try with my stick at a different location, maybe it's due to firewall issues.
Happy Easter!

One Way it works for me at list is to install it to the c:\ drive then cut and paste to the original intended location. that's how i got it to work for me Smile i hope this was helpful.

One way to do it is have it reference another location for a pre-downloaded java package and then use that to install it rather than download it on it's own. We use a web proxy here and it messes up the online installer but I'd have no issue with downloading the file and putting it someplace on my own.

my java online installer does not work. where does it connect to at all? to download java. because i see no details about error. just says failed!

It has to go online to download the official java installer so it can extract the files. If you are offline, it doesnt work. I agree, the error message could be better.
