This revision was necessary because version 1.1.0.1 had an error. It was not using the config files in AssaultCubePortable/Data but the ones in /App/assaultcube instead.
This revision fixes this error, keeps your mods (in the /App/assaultcube/mods folder) when you upgrade the application and now uses the PortableApps.com Launcher.

I am sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused anyone!

It no longer accepts windowed mode. The relevant option is reverted to fullscreen as soon as you exit.

AdditionalParameters=-t doesn't work either.

The only way to bypass it is to explicitly write
RunWindowed=true
in Data\settings\AssaultCubePortableSettings.ini

accept window mode by ading RunWindowed=true to the Data\settings\AssaultCubePortableSettings.ini
It is right that it was in another file but there is no use for having 2 config files in my opinion.
And yes it defaults to fullscreen unless you set it in the ini. Is that a problem?

Because I only found the solution by looking at the source code. Anything inside Data\Settings is supposed to be internal. Why is there an official option for windowed/fullscreen if it's not used?

I moved the "run windowed" option to the ini where it is now because I thought it was nicer not to have an ini in the AssaultCubePortable folder.
What do you mean by "official option"?
If you are talking about the -t/-t1 commandline switch, thats the original app. Thats what I use internally. I could have went without it but I thought that having a more user-friendly way of setting it to run windowed (RunWindowed=true) was better than having the user go through the assaultcube documentation and search for a commandline switch. And up till now, no one ever complained about it.

I never checked the gui settings and ergo didn't know there was a setting for fullscreen. I understand your problem now and will probably remove the ini entry with the next release as its pointless in my opinion if there is a possibility to set it inside the game.

thanks, kind of a pain to have to reset it every time

I didnt check for the gui setting Sad
I am changing it back for the next version.
Just have to get it right so the seting is kept and people dont have to reset it.

The contests of autoexec.cfg get copied into init.cfg instead of being used on their own.

It means they become permanent instead of being dynamic.

Even more so, the contests of init.cfg are sorted alphabetically, which breaks the scripts inside autoexec.cfg.

post this as a bug report in the forums?

I havent changed anything about the way config files are handled. Could it be that Assaultcube changed something?
Does it work as expected with a local install?

did you include a portable LAN maker EXE?

AssaultCube is fast and runs on old hardware, with the correct settings you can run it on a P3 800Mhz gf2

I don't know what P3 or gf2 is, but I know that I have more than 800 MHz on my PC. How do I set it up to run better?

I'll be getting a $20 RAM upgrade in a few weeks (gonna go to 512 MB, Woo!). You think that will make any difference?

Pyromaniac's picture

see, that makes sense.

nope, and nope. sucks.

I didn't. Its not ready yet.
Those are the minimal specs and I don't know what settings you have to tweak to make it run better - I don't think there are any. One example is that it only needs little bandwidth because most of the game play id done by the client and not by the server and thus there isn't much that needs to be sent over the network.

not getting this, it worked the other day, AFTER the update rev 2... etc.

Suddenly, a new protocol in the network connection to server?

I'll try reinstalling, i guess. or maybe the .zip

;>jamvaru

the is an update available so maybe its related to that.

Like PokerTH, basically every new release is incompatible with the older ones. So when servers are updated, you can't play anymore. I added PokerTH to the 'release quick' list for the same reason.

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

A "workaround" if you can call it that is that there are still some active servers supporting v1.0.4, so if people really want to play AC in a portable fashion they can do so by downloading an old PAF of AssaultCubePortable v1.0.4.

Naturally, users choosing to do this should install the old AC to a different folder to keep their newer version in tact ready for the next update, and avoid any potential incompatibilities.

when its done.
Off the record, its already in the release queue.
