logoDTaskManager Portable 1.51 has been released. DTaskManager is a task manager specifically engineered to give additional functionality that the Windows bundled Task Manager does not have. It's packaged in PortableApps.com Format so it can easily integrate with the PortableApps.com Suite. DShutdown is freeware for personal and business use. Read on for more details...

DTaskManager is packaged for portable use with permission from Dimio.

PortableApps.com Platform 2.0 Beta 5 users who already have this app installed, simply click 'Check for Updates' in your PA.c Menu to update to the new version.

Features

ScreenshotDTaskManager has three different ways to close a process, as the "termination request", the standard "forced termination" with dialogue tolerance, and the "forced termination" of any type of process, bypassing all permissions (it can also terminate running system processes). DTaskManager allows you to suspend and reactivate a process (as in Linux). This is useful, for example, to temporarily suspend a task that uses system resources when you don't want to terminate it (such as a DivX encoding process). DTaskManager allows you to select more than one process at a time, and terminate all of them "simultaneously". DTaskManager does not require confirmations. Click and it works.

PortableApps.com Installer / PortableApps.com Format

DTaskManager Portable is packaged in a PortableApps.com Installer so it will automatically detect an existing PortableApps.com installation when your drive is plugged in. It supports upgrades by installing right over an existing copy, preserving all settings. And it's in PortableApps.com Format, so it automatically works with the PortableApps.com Suite including the Menu and Backup Utility.

As Far As I Know this is a 100% natively portable software.
So, why do You create a "PA" portable version?
what is the advantage?

.::. The Stone Rolls again Wink Cheers!

I too am running Win7/64, and get "Runtime error 5: Invalid procedure call or argument."

Same error happens with DShutdown.

However, I tried downloading and running the native DTaskmanager app (not packaged as a PA.c app) and the same error occurs, so this is not a discussion for PA.c but needs to go to D-Software support.

Cheers!

When opening and trying kill process in Win 7/32 I get nadda.

Open Windows TaskManager to kill the same process and presto.

Anyone else have this issue?

As this could possibly be a bug it should be posted in the Other Apps Support Forum, but I'm not certain what you mean by "I get nadda", is DTaskManager Portable not opening, or is it opening but not killing a process when you tell it to?

Also any other pertinent information would be appreciated (e.g. Admin account or limited, run as admin? [it asks you to], started from Platform?, what AV & Firewall do you use?, etc.)

Note: If you don't "Run as Administrator" (and either click yes to run it with Administrative Privileges, or type in the Administrative Password for it) some parts of it will not function correctly, if you're getting it open, but are unable to kill processes with it this might be one of them.

As stated in my post, when I try to kill the process using DTaskmanager, I get nadda, meaning it does not kill the process.

When I use Windows TaskManager to kill the process, presto, meaning that I have successfully killed the process.

DTaskmanager ran from PortableApps Menu installed on thumbdrive.

Full Admin rights --- Problem exist with MacAfree Internet Security enabled or disabled.

Win 7/32

  1. I guess I'll have to assume that it opens since you say you "try to kill the process using DTaskManager", despite the fact that you did NOT answer the question
  2. Installed in the default location (X:\PortableApps\DTaskManagerPortable\) or a custom location?
  3. By "Full Admin rights" do you mean that the user account has "Full Admin rights", or that you told it to "Run as Administrator" and either clicked yes or typed in the Admin password (or both)?
  4. When you disabled McAfee Internet Security, did you disable both the AV & Firewall sections of it?
  5. Is it possible that the McAfee AV messed something up during install? You could try installing again with McAfee disabled during install.

Please try killing the process with the Base App (It's about 2/3 the way down the page) and if the problem is still there, please report it to Dimio rather than PortableApps.com as that means it isn't a "DTaskManager Portable" issue.

  • If the problem is specific to the PortableApps.com release, and you need more help Please use the Support Forum.

I guess I'll have to assume that it opens since you say you "try to kill the process using DTaskManager", despite the fact that you did NOT answer the question

"when I try to kill the process using DTaskmanager" -- I thought the keyword was USING - Yes program is open and being USED thus I used the word USING

Installed in the default location (X:\PortableApps\DTaskManagerPortable\) or a custom location?

Default location had it not been default location, I would have stated.

By "Full Admin rights" do you mean that the user account has "Full Admin rights", or that you told it to "Run as Administrator" and either clicked yes or typed in the Admin password (or both)?

By saying FULL ADMIN RIGHTS, I am saying that the computer has FULL ADMIN RIGHTS and ran the program with FULL ADMIN RIGHTS.

When you disabled McAfee Internet Security, did you disable both the AV & Firewall sections of it?

When I said I ran it enabled and disabled, that means when it was ran disabled, ALL OF MACAFEE WAS DISABLED - ALL PARTS OF IT.

Is it possible that the McAfee AV messed something up during install? You could try installing again with McAfee disabled during install.

Installed and Re-installed several times.
