jPortable Launcher 5.0 (formerly Java Portable Launcher) has been released. jPortable Launcher allows you to easily run Java JARs from your PortableApps.com-enabled device with one of our portable Java Runtime Environments installed. While it doesn't portablize their settings directly, it does work with any self-contained JAR that stores settings alongside itself or allows its settings to be saved to a portable location. This release adds support for the newly-released OpenJDK Portabkle and OpenJDK JRE Portable Java Runtime Environments along with their 64-bit variants alongside the existing support for jPortable and jdkPortable. It also adds experimental jnlp support. It's packaged as a portable app, so you can take your browsing experience with you and it's in PortableApps.com Format so it can easily integrate with the PortableApps.com Platform. And it's open source and completely free.
Update automatically or install from the portable app store in the PortableApps.com Platform.
Features
jPortable Launcher allows you to easily run Java JARs using the Java Virtual Machine installed on your PortableApps.com-enabled device using OpenJDK JRE 32-bit or jPortable 32-bit. It can also use the JRE within OpenJDK 32-bit or jdkPortable 32-bit. It can be installed into the PortableApps.com Menu where, when it is run, it will prompt you to select a JAR file to run. It can also be run directly by dragging and dropping a JAR file onto the JavaPortableLauncher.exe file.
PortableApps.com Installer / PortableApps.com Format
jPortable Launcher is packaged in a PortableApps.com Installer so it will automatically detect an existing PortableApps.com installation when your drive is plugged in. It supports upgrades by installing right over an existing copy, preserving all settings. And it's in PortableApps.com Format, so it automatically works with the PortableApps.com Platform including the Menu and Backup Utility.
