Hi! PortableApps is a great software. It stands against all the rest. But I hope it will support Categories and/or Groups.

It's coming in the next big release. It's working in development behind the scenes. There are a couple unofficial third-party forks that have it now floating around the forums, but they're unsupported.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
Ah, yes! May I know the link so that I can try it?
Some menus with categories you might like to try...
PortableApps-style menus (these are probably the ones John was referring to):
SmithTech Portable Menu - Has Truecrypt support, although sadly that needs admin righs...
geek.menu - Haven't tried this myself.
Other menus:
PStart(http://www.pegtop.net/start/) - not open source, but still very handy.
ASuite - Very similar to PStart (it can even import PStart app lists), and open-source too.
But in all truth, it's probably better to wait just a little longer for the new PA menu - purely because it can integrate better with the PortableApps.com apps.

A: Stay awake and wonder if there's a dog.
I've tried geek.menu and like it to the point I created a new icon theme for it. I'm hoping that in the next big release you allow to customize icons John? Because I would like to make a theme or two along with icons if you allow that option like geek.menu does.
At any rate geek.menu also has truecrypt support. And of course TrueCrypt requires admin rights. It mounts an encrypted volume by modifying device drivers. Even if you downloaded TrueCrypt directly from their project page it still needs admin rights. I use geek.menu and have no complaints.

What's a signature?
The current beta of PAM or PAP is able to have the icons changed. They are listed in a separate folder from the other parts of the theme, but there are themes that include custom icons already.
