I have a sandisk cruzer with U3, I have been attempting to get thunderbird to work with my hotmail. the webmail ext. will only work with 2.0. I couldn't get it to work.
I put thunderbird 2.0 on a regular thumb drive and it works with hotmail.
Is there any way thunderbird for my U3 can be updated to 2.0?
I really need it.

Portable Apps is no longer supporting the U3 platform and will not be updating the U3 version of TBP.
If you search the posts you will find some tools to put a shortcut for your TBP2 on your U3 drive if you really need it.
On of them is currently in testing.

Things have got to get better, they can't get worse, or can they?
You can run the regular PortableApps version of Thunderbird from your U3 drive. In fact there are ways of getting it on the U3 launchpad, without it being in the official U3 smart format. Search the forums for it. (SmithTech is the one who has come up with the slickest techniques.)
Since U3 is at end-of-life as a platform, there is some thought that it would be better to switch people to a fully-supported and updated platform like PortableApps (which work just fine on a U3 drive).
