Download Deluge Portable 0.5.8.7 Development Test 2 [8.7MB download / 17.1+MB installed]
(MD5: e42b6185e072065985c805ad80cbab77)
Release Notes:
Development Test 1 (2008-04-13):
- Updated to Deluge 0.5.8.7
Development Test 1 (2008-03-04): Initial release
Note: Deluge uses PyGTK, which is GTK with a Python wrapper, so I don't believe there's anyway to use it in a common files setup, but that's being dropped anyways.
I'm not experiencing any issues with it, works fine for me.
Great job though.

I've been waiting for this one for a long time. Excellent job, Patrick.

for the app its self but i have never used this one. when I click on the add url nothing happens. This was the way I on utorrent I added new links to download. Hopefully this just some over sight on my part and someone can point me in the right direction. I did look around the forums on the app site but found very little there.
thanks Bob

edit: after restarting the program it worked fine
works great no problems except i don't know what i'll be able to download with a filled up 2 gig stick

First time ive ever used deluge and ive already found a bug. I have a single port forwarded for torrents, set on uTorrent. If uTorrent is still open with the same port as deluge, then you start deluge, the program simply crashes with the following error
http://i30.tinypic.com/tz2mw.png
and dbus-daemon-deluge.exe is still running in the task manager after it crashes in this way.
Other than that, seems good.
That's not a bug in the portable version or of Deluge itself. You can't have two programs trying to use the same port at the same time.
Cancer Survivors -- Remember the fight, celebrate the victory!
Help control the rugrat population -- have yourself spayed or neutered!
By bug, i meant for example coding it so that it checks that the port is available, and if it isnt then it returns an error with the problem, then completely terminates the programs, rather than returning a general C++ error and not terminating the daemon.
And that would be an issue with Deluge itself as I stated above. Post you suggestion on the Deluge website.

Hey
0.5.8.7 is out now and it apparently fixes the bug where the torrents ratio weren't kept
so please maybe an update
thanks for the great work
Thanks, I know. I'll try yo get one out later this week.
Deluge had been updated to 0.5.8.7
I get this message error:
"The installer you are trying to use is corrupted or incomplete.........."
Thanks for testing. I'll re-upload.
Fixed, thanks
Thanks
working great now
A folder named deluge is created in the "[username]\application data" folder.
Sounds like a bug on there end. I'll look into that, thanks.
a bug on their end? lol, i would think that would be a bug on your end for not redirecting it or cleaning it up at the end in your script
I don't think I should have to clean it up. The Deluge on Windows dev added a switch to re-direct the profile, which works. Apparently it still creates that folder nonetheless which is shouldn't. It's no problem at all to check if empty and remove, but it's still something on there end.
However, didn't KompoZer do the same thing?
I just noticed that Deluge Portable 0.5.8.7 Development Test 2 creates a directory in Windows Vista. The directory is at C:\Users\UserName\deluge. This might be because of a default setting within Deluge, but even if this is the case, I think the default setting needs to be changed because few will look at the settings.
Do read. I forgot to fix it. I'll try and do that this week.
0.5.8.9 is out
no worries thought, loving this app
I'll try to update this weekend.
It won't run on Windows 98.
Of course, it's not supported.
But it would still be nice.
[removed double post - moderator PP]
Windows 98 support is being dropped by a lot of program, Firefox included I believe.
When I want to open an URL in the menu, nothing happens.
No little box to paste the URL.
I've tried to delete and install again the app but to no avail.
Any idea ?
hey I just found a registry entry
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
software>duluge> Name-(default) type-REG_SZ data-G:\portbaleapps\DelugePortable
and
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
Name-Version Type-REG_SZ data-0.5.8.5
EDIT just found 2 more
HKEY_CURRENT_USER>software>dulge>
1- name (default) type-REG_SZ data- (no value set)
2- name Installer Langague type REG_SZ data-1033

Really nice interview i have found here. You should put more so i can write about them in my BitTorrent blog
When I run the installed version of deluge, it simultaneously runs a Python process that uses 29,000 k of memory. I don't see this process with the portable version. Also this package seems to be much smaller than the installed version - 17 MB vs. 29 MB installed. How is this all possible?
The binaries are compressed with UPX, but this is an older release of Deluge, so I'll have to update soon and check things out.
Any chance for that update? Deluge is 1.1.16 now.

Yeah, I guess UPX compression would account for the files sizes.
How about the RAM usage? Why does my locally installed Deluge need to have Python running and consuming 29,000 K?
Maybe your portable package is "magic"
The download link is not working. Is there still somewhere to get this app? Thanks!
Is there an alternative portable torrent downloader you could recommend>

uTorrent is portable out of the box.
Halite:

Although i'm still using this version of Deluge with no problems but wished someone would take over this and updated it cause for me its the best one out there since utorrent was purchased by bittorrent.com and became closed source.
uTorrent was always closed-source.
yeah, my mistake...
my point was it became owned by a company associated with mpaa and other anti-piracy associations...
Halite is very good. I haven't used it for a while, but it was definitely looking promising a few months back. Deluge is horrible IMO. I've never had any luck getting it to run the way I wanted it to.
I prefer deluge to halite, but honestly, I'd enjoy ANY portable torrent app at this time. Any word on a deluge update or is there another client being used now instead?

I would consider updating this, as I need to update the internet version, and fix some download paths as well, however Deluge just isn't getting any better on Windows.
I'd suggest trying out Frostwire, which requires portable Java. There's a beta in the forums if you take a search, it should describe how to use Java with it as well.
Antoher website of portableapps has Deluge Portable (compressed in .zip, not in a installer, but the app is Patrick's app.

Don't need no Deluge portable daemon, just the portable *client* please! That should make it easier.
This client has gotten better and better. I'd love a Portable Deluge! Any chance of an update?

I 2nd this request
Someone to takeover the development on this one please
Deluge 1.2.0 stable
really need
If John gives me an update on what we're doing about BitTorrent there's a minor possibility I could try my hand at updating this. Minor, but if I get that Windows machine fired up... maybe.
there was another torrent client released Glad to see your haunting again a little bit.
