Add a keylogger to automatically run when inserting thumbdrive?

Hi,

Is there a program that I can put onto a thumbdrive that will automatically load and act as a key logger for the apps running on my thumbdrive? for example it will record all key strokes in portable firefox?

Thanks

what? Why would you want

what?

Why would you want that?

Too many lonely hearts in the real world
Too many bridges you can burn
Too many tables you can't turn
Don't wanna live my life in the real world

I hope not

I hope not Sad
And if there were I hope my spyware checker would kill it.

Sounds like illegal activity

Sounds like illegal activity to me. This behavior is strongly discouraged!

While I could imagine

While I could imagine illegal applications for a key logging app... as a soon-to-be-parent (and IT professional) who is well aware of how kids can learn to exploit technologies... I can see pros and cons to actually having such a thing. I wouldn't be so quick to nay-say the suggestion, within certain bounds. Smile

Bounds?

Once it's released there are no bounds.
A legitimate Keylogger should be put on the host machine by an admin.

soon-to-be-parent hasn't

soon-to-be-parent hasn't worry about this for a few more years. IT Professional should know better. key-loggers are a security risk, everyone knows that!

I cannot see any pros to key loggers and while some people might think it has any legitimate use should think more carefully about this matter.

People who want to install key logger automatically by popping in their flash drive are is a bad thing. You don't want to have a key logger on a PC that you are using because it's a security risk for your private information whether it be your forum login password or online banking account information or even government login data.

I know some employers use key loggers but that only says they don't trust their workers.

Key loggers are a bad thing!

Actually, I can see a reason in this context

The OP was for a keylogger that would run from the flashdrive, against all the apps on it.

Imagine the scenario of you're fixing someone's computer up for them, and would like a full audit trail of what you did while you were on their machine, just in case of complaints or accusations later.

Something that you used to log everything that you did, so you could later produce the details for the person who owned the computer could, potentially, be quite useful.

But as an aside, as a network administrator, I once had to fight with senior management to stop them from putting keyloggers on all the office machines. Don't like them, never will.

I doubt if logged

I doubt if logged information will help you with anything. Imagine the complaints or accusations if you say; "hey, I used a key logger on your PC".
