pidgin portable 2.42 with otr and spell check

I want pidgin portable 2.42 with OTR and spell check as a single install. PM me if you have it since clearly there's never going to be one to download. I'd also like the installer to double as an updater, since its a real chore as is.

I never can make it work, either it forgets accounts, or the spellchecker only works on my home machine, or the OTR just vanishes, or all of the above.

There isn't a single install

There isn't a single install because they are all different developers. You can't get them as a single install in the local version of pidgin either.

To install the above it is quite easy.

Instructions on how to keep Aspell installed are located here.

For OTR, you just need to drop in the 'pidgin-otr.dll' file into your plugins folder. You will have to run the installer for OTR to install it then copy the dll over. If you want I can send you the dll from my install.

Give those a shot. As for the forgetting accounts, you will have to elaborate more.

Followed, still not working.

Followed, Spellcheck still not working.

Why not make it also a portable installer like the OTR plugin (which works fine BTW), and why not package said installers with the original and make them check boxes like the language option? Put notifications in the EULA Backside covered and suddenly you have a chat client that doesn't need surgery every time you want to update.

I know the answer, laziness, that is everyone wants to use the restricted Aspell dictionaries rather than make a new one that isn't.

A zipped version of a 2.4.2 (Why two points? Pretentious and silly, yes I know you cant do anything about it, just saying) With working portable OTR and spell check that does not blank out when moved would be awesome.

Did you turn on the option in

Did you turn on the option on in your preferences?

As for the bundling, that's something that you'll have to take up with John. I'm sure there is something that is stopping this from happening, whether it be demand, time, legalities, etc...

Go to your preferences in

Go to your preferences in Pidgin. Click on the "Conversations" tab, then make sure "Highlight misspelled words" is checked.

Other doubts

Hi Gizmokid2005! I was trying to get working the spell checker in Pidgin portable 2.4.2 but I just can't do it.
Here is what I have done:
1. I downloaded and installed Aspell from here: http://aspell.net/win32/ (I use Windows XP)
2. From the same place I downloaded and installed the "English Dictionary"
3. I copied the content of the folder c:\Program Files\Aspell to PidginPortable\App\aspell
4. I uninstalled aspell from C:
5. I have checked the "Highlight misspelled words"
6. Even, I restarted my PC (:D)

But it just doesn't work... Can you help me? What could be wrong? Thanks and I'm sorry if my English sounds a little odd, it is because I'm a Mexican guy who is trying to improve his English...

That is the correct

That is the correct procedure. Try deleting the whole installation of Pidgin, then re-install portable and do the same procedures as you did before. You do not have to restart the PC.

Thank you by your help... But I tried again and it just didn't work (even I tried a different procedure that I found in FAQ's) ... Thank you anyway... maybe next time
