Hey I have not tried ClamWin yet.
Have avast! 4.8 on my PC (not on portable)
Do ClamWin conflict with avast!4.8?
... Normal it is not good to have two anti-virus programs ...
Well. I guess ClamWin only is needed on those PCs, who not already have an anti-virus programme... Or ??!!
Tell me about it.
I am Curious
ClamWin must be actively started to scan for viruses, while Avast! runs in the background and catches viruses as they appear.
In my experience, the problem with having more than one virus software is both resource issues and conflicts. A prime example is having both McAfee and Norton AV on the same system.
A virus scanner program that runs in the background takes up a large amount of available system resources, so having two run at the same time can slow a system to a crawl. I've seen this myself.
I assume that it is possible that the programs could be competing for system files, or detect each other as viruses, but I have not seen this.
If you have Avast!, you really don't need ClamWin on that system, but if you don't have a virus scanner, ClamWin can help you check to make sure you are clean.
I made this half-pony, half-monkey monster to please you.
I've used both without any problems. I've got Avast installed on my home machine. And I've run ClamWin Portable in the past without any problems. It may have run slower since Avast was also running, but neither app had any problems with the other.
I have run ClamWin Portable with Symantic Endpoint running and doing an active scan. i had no issues at all.
