Windows Media Player 11

Windows Media Player 11 is a good program that should be portable. I was hopeing that someone would create it. I would do it myself but I am only good at .PHP and .HTML programing.

There is no way ever that

There is no way ever that Windows Mobile will be made portable here. It's a Microsoft product. Closed-source, commercial and such. Use VLC. It's better anyway and portable.

I think you mean Windows

I think you mean Windows Media Player Mobile 10 for Windows CE5 (ie Windows Mobile 5).

I knew that someone would be stupid enough to ask for WMP as a portable app. It will never happen. WMP is too integrated into the OS and the registry that it would take reverse engineering the code to make it portable which in turn will violate the EULA causing the BIG M$ to come to you with a lawsuit.

ALSO... WMP is highly dependent on the OS and requires patched to the OS for security reasons. You will NEVER get WMP 11 running on Windows ME let alone 11 without a major time consuming hack.

Check yourself Mir

You're definately a little out of line. Please don't call new users stupid. Many of the people that make the requests are really not tech savey. If a normal user is using WMP they don't necissarily know that it's so heavily ingrained into the OS. Also this site is kinda dependant on Windows, since that's the only OS PAc runs on, so please refrain from bashing Microsoft and their products.

Ah, yes...
...An app and OS which are so competent that the latter tells me that the former needs to be installed and configured...despite the fact that the former came PRE-installed on the latter, and has played a few audio files for me without even sneezing (a big accomplishment, for Redmond)

Almost every windows has a

Almost every windows has a media player. It's like having Internet Explorer portable while every windows already has Internet Explorer.

I highly suggest you check out some of the other Portable applications like VLC Portable. It plays virtually everything and is very stable.

Bottom Line...

no, windows media player, or any other microsoft product will not and cannot be made portable for multiple reasons. mainly the legal issues and the fact that microsoft programs are usually tied heavily into the registry which is unique in every machine.

I guess

I guess everyone just can't be satisfied, even with all the various "Windows Media Player" themes floating around.

Not Possible

It's not possible I think, how about Audacity? It can edit and play music at the same time and easy to edit your file tags

PROVE THE WORLD WRONG

Allright, seeing as how every single one who has posted has said that there is no way to make Windows Media Player Portable, I'm am about to prove you all wrong...
OK, there are legal issues about this so I will not bypass those legal issues unless just for example purposes only. I guess I've actually figured out something that no one else could huh?, because I have created Windows Media Player Portable and Windows Movie Maker Portable...
Now of course I cannot take these applications off of my OS because that would bypass the legal issues but if there are any ideas or if anyone thinks I'm lying then I can prove it....

True

True, it is possible to portabilize anything with enough time.

But what I think everybody means with "it isn't possible" is that it is not legal to do it.

For example, I always try to avoid the word "can't", using instead "won't". There are launchers for almost anything.

In this case it is illegal to move it from the PC, as you said.

Blue is everything.

hat about the DLL's that are

hat about the DLL's that are required and what about the dependencies that are needed? you are talking about taking part of the physical OS including multiple EXEs (WMP is not the only EXE that WMP accesses) What about the legality of the codecs as well. This thread is also about WMP11, will you support it when someone complains about it not working on Windows 2000 or ME?

This is a lot more complicated than you think... if you are arguing that it is simple i would be interested to see you prove me WRONG.

I would also like a Windows

I would also like a Windows movie maker that is portable but since its closed source... I was wondering: Is there any program that is compatible with wmm because i really need to complete a homework assignment by Thursday 2/12/09 and my group member has WMP 2.6 which is not compatible with the school's WMM or the library's. Please help... if you can't find something compatible, can you find something that will convert it???
