I use Firefox Portable running on a flash drive and using my AT&T phone connected to my laptop to access the internet. Its a 230kbps connection but it would be nice to have an addon that i can quickly turn on and off loading images. this way when browsing forums it would just be a redx or just the outline of where the image would be, but if i want to see the pictures i can move up and turn it on and the page reloads with images.
anyone know of anything like this? or any other add on that will make a "dial-up" connection faster?
I can imagine how having a choice to load images or not would be nice for an admittedly slow connection. The good news is that you're in luck - this feature is already built in to Firefox, and does not require any kind of addon!
To accomplish this, simply do the following:
Ta da!! You've done it - mission accomplished.
It is also worth noting that there is even an option to exclude certain (exact) URLs, ones that you always want to load (simply click the appropriate "Exceptions" box).
Additionally, you can even block Flash content, if you want. For this one though, I think you have to have an addon. However, it is a common addon: Flashblock.
Awesome!! thank you very much!!
No problem!
You can also switch to text only mode, which loads some of the images, but not all
like backgrounds, etc.
It helps.

Too many tables you can't turn
Don't wanna live my life in the real world
Can you tell us how? I'd be interested in knowing this.
