I can't get VLC to work

I'm not sure if I'm posting in the right place as most of these posts seem very technical and I'm definitely not! I am running Vista V6.0 Business and am struggling to get VLC to work. When I click on the application the player loads and identifies a DVD when I load it. However, when I try to open the disk, a lot of whirring occurs (ie the system can see the disk) but that's as far as it goes. Am I being really stupid? I would be very grateful for any help. Please remember - I am not at all technical! Thanks.

Sorry

I am only using Vlc on Win XP where it works really well so I dont know why it doesn't on some vista machines.
Oh and you ARE posting in the right place Smile

Some questions:
Are you using the latest version downloaded from here?
What kind of user account do you have? Administraitor or restricted?
I know that Vista's account system is more complicated and restrictive than Win XP's, so maybe the problem is that your account doesn't have the right to access the Cd/DVD-drive?
Are there any error messages?

Maybe someone who knows more about Vista and its peculiarities can jump in and help you more...

Anyhow, welcome to PortableApps.com Smile

I can't get VLC to work

Since I've upgraded to version 0.94 I couldn't watch any video anymore. Only can hear to the audio.

I´m using it under XP (Portuguese version with 1Gb).

Can someone help me? What if I downgrade to previous version?

Regards.

downgrade

should be easy. Just install the older version right over the new one. If you do have problems you might need to delete the /Data folder. You will lose your personal data but most people dont have much important personal data in a simple player like Vlc. Just make a backup to be sure before you downgrade so you can go back to the status quo.
