Recently I was just going through the old logs of my McAfee VirusScan, and one item was video.exe.
The location was in PortableApps\GIMPPortable\App\gimp\lib\gimp\2.0\plug-ins\video.exe.
It was identified as New Malware.jj (Trojan). Is this just VirusScan being paranoid or has anyone else seen this?
This website says that "If you think you've found a virus or spyware issue, please follow the instructions on the support page before posting as anti-virus and anti-spyware applications routinely make mistakes." Sorry if I missed something, but I couldn't find any instructions, so I'm posting this thread.
But to check, submit the file to something like http://virustotal.com/
Also, the instructions are there
Go to the support page (link in the top navigation of every page here)
Scroll down to just past the list of apps, and you will find a section titled "AntiVirus and AntiSpyware False Positives" which tells you what to do, and includes a couple of useful links to help.
I already deleted the file (thinking there's no harm in doing so) but thanks for the reply. About the support page, I misunderstood it as meaning the support page for individual apps (e.g. https://portableapps.com/support/gimp_portable) so I didn't see it. I guess it would be much more logical to have just one support page in one location instead of on each individual support page.
McAfee has always been paranoid, alot of the time it picks up things that arn't really a big problem.. well anyways if you know how to check your computers registry for virus's then you might want to give that a try.. other than that, maybe a virus Trojan hid a virus in your gimp mini. alot of times thats what happens, its a type of trojan that senses when a device has been connected to an infected computer, and inserts a copy of its self into portable drives(flash drive, hard drive, sd cards). but thats not a big worry, i'm just telling you this because its happened to me make sure your drivers are updated.
