I'm still looking into it. It's one more thing to support (always REALLY annoying when a software project supports two different versions at once).
I do have to ask... why do you want to use GPG2 vs GPG1 with Thunderbird and Enigmail? Is it just because it's a new version?

yeah, thats one point. And your right, thats not confortable they maintain 2 versions at the same time.
But in the future, the v.2 build against external libs, will be the standart version.
So when people start to use it now, they can help fixing bugs etc. of the newer version. Thats the point of using OSS.
As more people use the v.2 as less support is needed vor v.1. As long as so many people use v.1 they will keep maintain it.
For me personally, i like to use newest one, but in this case, where both offer same options its not that important. But we should use recent version, like I explained
