Throughout my experience with Toucan I have been fortunate that my portable has always used F:\ both at home and at 2 workplaces so I have never needed to use the portable variables functions. However recently, my sister plugged in her USB and then my portable hard drive. Her USB took the F:\ and my portable the G:\. Now whenever I plug my drive in it is assigned G:\. This is an issue as all my jobs and scripts in Toucan are dependent upon F:\.
I realize I can map the drive but I would strongly prefer not to. This sort of situation is likely to repeat over time (I'm probably lucky it hasn't happened a long time ago) so I decided it was time to figure out the portable variables. I tackled the manual but still couldn't figure out to insert the drive variable to Toucan use relative paths Can you please help explain how I do this in "For Dummies" terms = )
