I've tried numerous times to add the Lightning 0.9 extension on to Thunderbird Portable but keep getting an error message on program start up.
There's some indication that some part of the extension installed itself, but the overall Calendar/Task functionality is very limited.
I'm surprised no one else has mentioned having this problem. Surely it can't just be me?
So, anyone know how to get TB Portable working with the Lightning extension?
(Incidentally, there doesn't seem to be a version of Lightning especially designed for Portable Apps - every download link I've found has taken me to the regular version of the program)
for lighting or thunderbird? I've been using both together for many moons.
I didn't have any non-standard process to put Lightening into Thunderbird

Hmmm..., well, I've tried Lightning with Thunderbird in ordinary desktop hard-drive mode, and that works fine. It's the portable that I'm having trouble with.
Interesting that no one else seems to have this issue.
Alright, well, I've now tried using the U3 Thunderbird with a U3 USB drive, and that works fine with Lightning.
I'd rather use PortableApps than U3, but U3 will have to do for now I guess.
and I've been using TB with Lightning for a long time.
I made this half-pony, half-monkey monster to please you.
I've been using Lightning in Thunderbird Portable for over a year now and havn't had any issues. Can even sync my calendars and tasks with my home install using Toucan for profile syncing.

the lightning installation is portable since it installs in the program folder itself and in no other place. I don't like the 0.9 version since I prefer to see the little calendar below my mail accounts, so I use 0.7.
It works now... yay!
I reinstalled TBP and had another go with Lightning, and now it works.
Thanks everyone who chimed in.
