Startup Problem

Hi,
I updated 3.0.9 to 3.0.10.
I forgot PortableFirefox open, so the installer ask me to close any istances.
I did so and pushed again "install".
After the installation, Firefox doesn't start anymore. I see the startup logo, but nothing else.
I installed a fresh copy, but nothing changes.
Does something controlled by the running instance during update prevent FF to start again?
Somebody can help me?
Thanks

How did you "update" your FF?

How did you "update" your FF? If you ran the built-in FF updater, you screwed it up.

https://portableapps.com/support/firefox_portable#upgrading

Upgrading Firefox Portable

To upgrade to a newer version of Firefox Portable, just install a new copy of Firefox Portable right over your old one. All your data will be preserved. At this time, please don't use the auto-updater due to a bug. More information here.

If you're upgrading from Portable Firefox (older name and directories), make a copy of your existing profile folder within the PortableFirefox\Data\profile directory on your portable drive. Then download the new version of Firefox Portable and copy your profile from the old version into the new version within FirefoxPortable\Data\profile. If you added any plugins or searchplugins, you should copy those directories as well (PortableFirefox\plugins to FirefoxPortable\Data\plugins and PortableFirefox\firefox\searchplugins to FirefoxPortable\App\firefox\searchplugins).

I had the exact same problem

I had the exact same problem when going through the correct route for updating to 3.0.10. It also corrupted my USB drive. I had to format it and reinstall 3.0.10 and it is now running really slow (it takes a good 5 minutes just to start) and will sometimes freeze my PC.

Drive

Sounds like your drive is failing.

Installing any software on a good drive doesn't corrupt it so you have to reformat. The only reason this happens is (1) if it's a lower-quality drive and easily overheats, but that's rare, (2) a faulty USB port that is shorting our or (3) the drive itself is starting to fail at the hardware level.

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
