[Fixed] Thunderbird Portable Live Regression

Thunderbird Portable Live Regression

The actual Thunderbird Portable (2.0.0.22) does not work properly in Live mode (i.e. running from an read only medium) as described in https://portableapps.com/support/thunderbird_portable#cd
But looks like Thunderbird Portable is just creating a new profile structure at the temp folder without fist coping the profile from its sub folders

I read this forum post https://portableapps.com/node/6296 about adding SettingsDirectory=Data\settings at the ThunderbirdPortable.ini. I don't know if this still applies but does not seems to affect what i am describing
I tested several versions from SourceForge archive http://sourceforge.net/projects/portableapps/files/Mozilla%20Thunderbird... one by one going backwards and I think the last one to work is 2.0.12.

Steps to reproduce:
1- Install an Thunderbird Portable version
2- Create a bogus account,
3- Close Thunderbird Portable
4- Copy the ThunderbirdPortable.ini to the Thunderbird Portable folder
5- Start Thunderbird Portable

If it shows your bogus account the Live Mode worked.
The post-2.0.0.12 versions shows the account create wizard and if you cancel an empty profile

Patch

I found the bug. It's a single line that needed fixing in the source. Just download this fixed launcher and replace your existing ThunderbirdPortable.exe with it: Live Launcher Fix (Source)

I'll include this in the next release of Thunderbird Portable.

Bug stil open?

With the newest version of portable Thunderbird and the ini set to RunLocally=true Thunderbird won't start.

After downloading the old, fixed version of the starter all works ok.

Am I right that the actual version of portable Thunderbird cannont run from CD?

Re-Fixed

It was a regression in later releases bit has been re-fixed with Thunderbird Portable 17.0.4.

Note that we no longer test whether apps work on CD even though the launchers support it due to severely declining optical media use.
