I think I remember reading somewhere that it is a known problem that Toucan has problem on machines with high screen resolutions. Most of the time when I open Toucan it does not appear within the screen limits. To fix this problem I right click on the icon and select maximize.
My problem now is that I just installed Windows 7 and it does not have that option when right clicking an application in the task bar. What can I do? I can't see toucan anywhere on my screen and I can't maximize it or move it any way that I know of.
¿Have you tried task manager?. I don't use Windows 7, but XP has the option to maximize applications from there.
DPI problems were supposed to be fixed with the 2.0 release unfortunately I will add some extra code to make sure it is always on screen in the next version and hopefully that will help!
I deleted the settings.ini file and launched it again. That time it appeared on my screen. Also there is still an option in the Task manager to maximize, so that will be a good fall back.
Thank you both.
Edit: Toucan only came up properly once after I deleted the settings.ini file. In launches since then it opens up and appears to be in maximized view for a split second and then disappears from the screen. All my eyes can see is a white flicker of the screen, so I assume that is what is happening.
should be fixed in the pre-release available here
It has worked every time so far. I've opened and closed it about 15 times in a row using both maximized view and a smaller size. When it starts up there is some flickering, but then I see the window appear in the center of the screen (even if I closed it off to the side).
Thanks for the fix.
