hello,

what is the best way to update my portable thudnerbird 3 to the latest version ?

auto update function ?

or

download the latest .zip file and extract it to my local tb portable folder ?

You can use the updater or download the latest version. After using the updater and TB restarts, it's best to close it down, wait for it to close and then restart it, just to ensure all is well. There may be one or two non-personal files left behind on the local PC when updating.
