New Portable Apps Menu Is Slow...For Me

I upgraded my Portable Apps platform to v1.6. Now, every time I start the Portable Apps platform, I see a progress bar in the left-hand-side menu for about 4-5 seconds after which time the list of my programs finally appears. This never happened with previous versions of the platform. I'm open to any suggestions for how to fix this.

Faster

It's actually faster than 1.5. The difference is that 1.5 didn't have the progress bar, so you didn't know it was doing anything (it just froze).

Do you still have an older

Do you still have an older copy of the PortableApps.com Platform? Maybe you could compare the time both take from clicking/launching the program to display the actual menu and the program list.

It might be a time perception problem due to not having a progress bar in the past, but in case there is another problem it would be good to isolate that scenario.

I want to be sure I

I want to be sure I understand your meaning. As far as I remember, in the previous version, when the Portable Apps menu appeared, the left side was fully populated.

Are you saying that in the previous version, the menu took longer to appear, but once it finally did appear, the left side of the menu was fully populated; and in the current version, the menu appears sooner, but with an empty left side that displays a progress bar while it is being populated?

I hope I made myself clear.

Correct

That's correct. The old one would also just freeze while updating (after hitting refresh) while the new one will show the progress bar.

In that case...

Well, in that case...fine with me, now that I understand.

As long as I have your attention, let me thank you so much for Portable Apps. The platform has been extremely helpful to me.
