I just installed portableapps onto a flash drive.
I can't find the above missing file.
I checked Mcafee security and it reported no errors with my flash drive.
Should this file be on my flash drive?
Thanks,
John

McAfee deleted it, they're having major issues at the moment:

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
Would you clarify something for me.
Was this file supposed to be on my flash drive?
Is this the file that I invoke to get portable apps started?
Should I try to reinstall the suite again?
thanks,
John

It either was installed and McAfee deleted it, or if you installed it when connected to a PC with McAfee, it wasn't even allowed to install.
Yes, PortableAppsPlatform.exe is the actual platform that shows the menu and manages your apps.
No, you don't have to reinstall the whole suite, you just need to reinstall the platform (which you can also find on the download page, it's under 2MB and will install MUCH more quickly than the suite). The whole suite is intact (with the exception, perhaps, of Pidgin Portable's launcher, which McAfee is also messing up on at the moment.
Also, please contact McAfee support to get them to fix this issue. We have as well, but they're taking a very long time to fix it. And it's affecting hundreds of thousands of PCs.

I had the same issue with DAT 5917, but the new DAT file for today 5918 (3/12/2010) is now showing no issues with the platform.
