I'm experiencing the following error when attempting to install Skype 4.2.0.155:
"Skype Portable | PortableApps.com Installer
The installer was unable to download Skype. The installation of the portable app will be incomplete without it. (ERROR: SendRequest Error)"
Additionally, the following error is displayed when attempting to launch Skype:
"Skype Portable | PortableApps.com
Skype Portable cannot be started. You may wish to re-install to fix this issue. (ERROR: Skype.exe could not be found)"

Works for me. I guess its you internet connection. Are you sitting behind a proxy or do you have something like a firewall limiting internet access?
And the second error is the logical consequence of the first: it you couldn't download skype, the portable version cant find it on your drive.

No; I'm using a DSL connection w/ no proxy setup under Windows XP Pro SP 2. I'm also attempting this on a corporate machine, but I've never had issues downloading and installing any PortableApps.com applications prior to this one.
I'm sure there are some Firewall settings and even Trend Micro processing in the background. Let me try it on a different computer (non-corporate machine)...
