Possible un-needed registry entries?

Good day to all,

The following are registry entries I believe are un needed and should be filtered out, as they are part of the windows shell:
http://pastebin.com/apgPAePJ

When I looked at the manual, I did not find anything documenting these keys.
I think that anything under the following should be disregarded.

"HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Local Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Shell\"

Thankyou for your time,

Shane Thompson

Where

should they be filtered out?
What app are you talking about?

I think he's referring

to the manual for Chris's Launcher, which has a list of registry keys that it is appropriate for a developer to ignore when they're creating a new launcher.

yes

but Chris's Launcher doesn't give me a list of reg keys. I have to use Regshot or a similar program for that. making a list with keys to ignore is imho dependent on the program I use. So there is no general fix. one would have to recode regshot I guess...
I think its easier to learn what keys I have to worry about than to wonder about the millions of possible keys I can ignore.

No, you've got it all wrong.

No, you've got it all wrong. Chris's launcher doensn't give you registry keys, I prefer regfromapp. However it does have a list of keys that can be ignored, and this is what I am refering to. I do not think the keys are needed to be included in the application.

What he is saying

is that the list of keys to ignore is, in reality, much bigger than could realistically be included into the aforementioned manual, and that there is no substitute for the developers getting to know and understand what the various keys are, so that they can (as you did here) identify for themselves that some classes of keys are not appropriate for their launcher to handle.

First of all, it would have

First of all, it would have made it more clear at the start if you'd said it was the PortableApps.com Launcher you were talking about.

I'm unfamiliar with the registry key where these are being reported as being; as far as I'm aware, HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Local Settings is invalid (the valid top-level keys in any hive are restricted to the set of SOFTWARE, SECURITY, SAM and a few others). A search for "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Local Settings" also finds practically no results... so I'm not sure what's going on. It would make sense if the "Local Settings\" were removed. Then you get keys which are in the manual as keys to ignore.

I am a Christian and a developer and moderator here.

Ok. I just had a quick look

Ok. I just had a quick look to compare what you have said and this all looks good. Is it possible to include this in the next launcher manual?
Thanks for your help
