I went to modify ThunderbirdPortable's launcher, and it includes an include whose file (registry.nsh) isn't included with the distribution. John, would you kindly put up a link to the file and include everything needed to compile next time you make a release of any portable app?
At least certain packages of it. If yours doesn't, snag it here.
Also, keep in mind that if you do modify it, you can't redistribute it with the Mozilla name or Thunderbird logos on it.

I wish I could say that surprised me.
But anyway, you might want to make a note of that in, say, a readme in the source folder.

I'm compiling a "community edition" branded one as well so that folks can use it for portable editions of CE-branded Firefox... like some of the optimized builds on mozillaZine.

Community Edition my arse. I'd fork it long before I ever bought into Mozilla's whole "Community Edition" joke.
Don't take that the wrong way--what you suggested is a great idea. The above is only my standpoint.

I don't plan to distribute it, and I only changed the variable NAME so that I don't have to rename my folders.
Vintage!
I suggest renaming em. All the apps are switching to AppNamePortable. They'll fit in better with portable apps developed elsewhere when you're looking at all the directories. And I'm releasing some new apps within the next few days that will auto-integrate with other apps when the directory layout is the standard.
For the curious... the full recommended directory layout is:
Of course, you can use any layouts you want... which is why I continue to support the INIs, but this is what the default will be in the Suite and the default supported by some upcoming apps and utilities... so switching to it will make your life a lot easier.

How so?

I added the note to the readme.txt in the root in the launcher-only download. I'll add it to the others when I do a new release of each.
