Software Requirements Specification

Hello,

I'm intrested in writing a SRS document on PortableApps.com: Portable Software/USB (Vers. 1.6.1.0). If you have questions about what it is you can check it out here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Software_Requirements_Specification).

If you're ok with it, would you be willing to provide me with information (manual, explain functions, etc) in case I need any?

After I finish it I'll send it to you and you can use it in the project documentation and in any other way you want.

Regards,
Despina.

Why?

I really can't think of any value it would add. Such documents are designed to be written before implementing a system - the Platform and Format and such are already written. Frankly, if such a document were written now to document further development which is planned, it would just be ignored. For simple enough systems (as ours is) those sorts of documents just clutter things up and are more work than they're worth.

I'm curious to know your motivation in asking this - is it for some University project where they want you to write an SRS for some project? or are you just over-enthusiastic about the sort of stuff they teach in University but which often isn't applied in the industry? Wink

Actually it is for some

Actually it is for some University project of this semester where they want me to write an SRS document for a project. For the SRS document, they want us to find a project which has a mature status. So, i checked many projects on different sites with mature status and i chose portable apps because i liked it very much. That's why i'd love to write the SRS for the specific project.

perfect project for higher ed ...

where you take an established concept and write about the minutia of it which only 10-20 people will ever read. Biggrin
Sounds like most of my higher ed papers. Acute

Don't be an uberPr∅. They are stinky.

SRS

Hello,

I have just finished the SRS document and I would like to send it to you to read it. Where can I find an email?
If you like it you can upload it in the project documentation or use it in any other way you want. I hope you like it and upload it, that it would be perfect and very usefull for users.

Haha, yeah.

We had to write a SRS for my software engineering class this quarter. Having started the project, we haven't looked at the SRS once.
