Batch renaming software?

I'm not aware of anything out there that is portable.
I was at work today and I needed to bulk rename rather a lot of files it would have been VERY handy to have had a small (portable) app to do that.

Sophisticated Rename

This program, Sophisticated Rename, is a batch renamer that can be portable. Use my Quickport Template to create the launcher and it will work fine from a USB drive.

You can get the program and information on it here

Unfortunately it is not free, Cost $29.95 for the 2.08 version. They are now up to 3.0 and it cost $49.95. I still use the 2.08 version and don't find a need to upgrade, But I find invaluable for renaming projects, mostly pictures, that I work on. I am willing to buy what i find works the best, so I didn't mind paying.

Hope this helps.

Just after I posted my original comment

I looked at my batch rename software on my desktop, checked the registry, and apart from the MUI cache entry, it appears to be clean.

The software is called BatchRename V1.6, is freeware, and the publisher is Prismatic Software. Url is http://www.prismaticsoftware.com

Hmm, the website closed end of may :/

Still, it seems to work, "appears to be portable" and thats the main thing.

Would this be the ReNamer utility from

here ?
http://www.redbrick.dcu.ie/~den4b/

Because I'm trying that one out now (and I have to say that if it's truly portable) that it's extremely good.

Or is it another one that you're referring too, because there is a few utilities out there with that particular name.

ReNamer

I've been using ReNamer for a while and have absolutely loved it.

ReNamer is indeed excellent

ReNamer is indeed excellent and Denis (the Dev) is open to suggestions from the public.

I actually asked him why he hadn't added his ReNamer to the project and he said he sent an email to the staff but he hasn't heard anything back.

He is actually willing and able to make ReNamer one of the latest additions to the portableapps suite.
