is there a solution?
I think we may just have it be unsupported. It's always been temperamental. Many financial institutions don't work with it (at least here in the US). And I can't get it working in a local GnuCash install on Windows 7 either.
In Germany HBCI(FinTS) is widely used. Without
online access via HBCI GNUCash doesn´t make sense to me.
I found a solution on this website:
http://www.winpenpack.com/en/download.php?view.738
Their solution works regarding HBCI but they don´t
support finance::quote.
Since it seems this is useful in some other countries, I'll double check it. Most likely, one of the registry keys has moved which is causing the issue.
I just posted 2.4.4 Pre-Release 1 which should cause the online banking setup to work again. You can grab it here:

Note that you will have to run as admin due to the way GnuCash handles the registry keys. Please let me know if this works for you.
