This pre-release of GnuCash Portable 2.4.4 is being done to ensure that it is properly fixing the following bugs:
This pre-release represents a complete rewrite of the GnuCash launcher to use the PortableApps.com Launcher with some custom code to handle the extra bits. It still handles both English-only and Multilingual installs built-in. And the online banking component should be working again on both Windows XP and vista/7 both 32-bit and 64-bit. Note that online banking does require running GnuCash Portable as admin (even if you are already logged in as an 'admin' on Windows Vista/7) by right-clicking either the launcher itself or the icon in the PA.c Menu and selecting Run as Admin. (Without doing this, registry keys in the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE hive of the registry can't be altered and, unfortunately, all the online banking components can only be configured via this method at present.)

Please confirm that the above 2 fixes work. Also please confirm that language switching with the platform works, that the app matches the system OS language by default without the platform, and that the language can be manually set within the GnuCashPortableSettings.ini file as with GIMP Portable.

This appears to be a more robust implementation than earlier PortableApps.com GnuCash Portable versions. It does not hang after upgrading, and works fine. I have not yet tested the language option or on-line banking.
It looks like a small gnucash.trace.xxxxxx.log file is created in ...\Data\Temp each time the application runs. My log files are all only 106 bytes each, but I suggest that either the latest is kept, or that all log files are completely deleted upon closing. I am a little uncomfortable with them procreating on my USB key!
All GnuCash features tried so far work as they should. The gnucash.ini file is one of the more interesting launcher files of the various portableapps.com applications. It's good to see a "state of the art" launcher implementation.

On my system it is terminating shortly after launch. The initial launch after upgrading was OK but all subsequent launches terminate. There is no error of any kind indicated. It terminated after displaying the tips window. Process Explorer showed the process arrive then exit.
I removed and reinstalled it clean and it's working fine after a clean installation.
