Yed portable

Hi Everybody!

Many thanks for the job done with all portableapps!!

I need to use the software Yed (http://www.yworks.com/en/products_yed_about.html), I look for a portable version, but I don't find it online!

Does anybody know where I can't found it, is there already some projet to adapt it on portableapps?

Thanks, have a good day!

yWORKS - yED

Looks interesting, but explicit permissions would be needed before anyone could attempt to create a portable version given the following extract from their legal page:

"The contents of this Site, including but not limited to design and layout elements such as logos, graphics, sound, images and services, are the property of yWorks and protected by copyright laws. They may not be copied, reproduced, republished, uploaded, posted, transmitted, distributed, or used for the creation of derivative works, in whole or in part unless expressly permitted by yWorks. You may not modify, decipher, decompile, disassemble or reverse engineer any of the software comprising or in any way making up a part of the Site. Proprietary notices and copyright information must be observed and followed. You must retain all copyright, trademarks, service marks and other proprietary notices contained in the original Site content."

The software is an integral part of their site so....

Also, when you try to download the application for personal use you get this:

"1. LICENSE CONDITIONS
The Licensee is granted a non-exclusive and non-transferable right to install one copy of the Software and use it as an application. The Software may not be used as part of an automated process. The Licensee may not reverse engineer, disassemble, decompile, or unjar the Software, or otherwise attempt to derive the source code of the Software.
The Licensee acknowledges that Software furnished hereunder is under test and may be defective. No claims whatsoever can be made on yWorks based on any expectation about the Software."

"6. DISTRIBUTION
No distribution is to be made of the Software by the Licensee. The Licensee may make one copy of the Software for backup purpose only."

"8. INSERTION OF MARKER
The Software may insert some markers into any output files to identify that the files are generated by the Software. yWorks bears no responsibility for any damages arising."

I suspect this means that they monitor all software downloads from their site and don't allow 'mirror' sites. If so, they would probably need to agree to host any PortableApps Development Tests and any finally released version.

You could of course try running the Java JAR version of the software using the Java Portable Launcher here - https://portableapps.com/apps/utilities/java_portable_launcher

Possible route to portability

Old thread update: a new version came out in March of 2016 and I'm pleased to say that the program appears to work portably with jPortable with Java Launcher (https://portableapps.com/apps/utilities/java_portable + https://portableapps.com/apps/utilities/java_portable_launcher), writing settings to \JavaPortableLauncher\Data\AppData\yWorks. Great news.

yed Portable?

Can someone elaborate on how yED software can be used as a portable app? What is meant by suggestion above to use jPortable with Java Launcher?

Thanks, cezerd
