Hi,
Would like to use portableApps on my laptop running win7 64bits rather than on a usb key. Is it possible? Can I install it in a folder in D: or do I need to make a special partition for it?
Thanks in advance for your advice.

Make the install into D:\PortableApps and your life will be a lot easier in the long run.

Didn't you mean to say to root of C: ,so it should look like C:\ PortableApps .
Don't be a pin-head!
As mjjones asked about D:, D:\PortableApps should fit his needs perfrectly. One additional remark: To get D:\PortableApps you have to install the platform to D:\ ! The folder PortableApps is created during the process (as well as the Documents folder).
Many thanks to the three of your for your reply and advice. Look forward to trying out portableApps and to joining conversation with all the community.
