The portable apps needs to have a setting in the options for an autostart similar to the U3 system (which is completely dead unless you got it on a USB with it or before it died) and it also needs a Password Protection similar to the U3 system

On *some* drives one can produce fake CD partition, but not on all.

as far as password protection, this has been discussed even more times and is not very useful as it does not really protect very much.
Hardware encrypted devices exist, but any password protection can not be done on software side if the device still should be portable.
