Plugin-container freezes FFP 13

Since I have updated Flash to the latest version (11.3.300), I repeatedly get my browser frozen for around a minute or more, then it warns about some script working too long. When I open System Explorer and stop or restart plugin-container.exe, the browser is brought back to life again - until it stumbles upon another script...

I am not sure whether it's Flash plugin or the way FF 13 handles it - either way, I decided to switch to Chrome until this problem is solved.

I noticed this has happened before to other users, but in previous FF version:

I encountered it for the first time ever.

Common

This is a common issue with firefox, flash and some websites. I notice it most often on Hulu.com when clicking the back button on my mouse with a video playing. It happens on the local version as well, so it is not a portable issue. There is no workaround nor fixx to my knowledge.

Strange...

...it has never happened before to me. Now it renders FF unusable - it freezes on most pages containing flash objects...

Thanks for info anyway.

I too have experienced this

I too have experienced this ever since upgrading flash. Luckily I kept the old .dll so I'll stick with that until another version of flash or a fix comes.

The moment I switch to the previous flash .dll, the issue disappears immediately. However, my standard FF install has ZERO issues. I hate to say this, but I think it has to be an issue with FF Portable because any website I visit that has flash has the script problem with Flash 11.3.

It Isnt

It isn't portable specific at all. It happens to my local install. I use adblock plus and flasblock to compensate.

Probable Cause

If this issue is only affecting you when using Portable Firefox, then it is probably related to the new security features in Flash 11.3. Starting with version 11.3, all Flash content (when using Firefox, at least) is run from "FlashPlayerPlugin_11_3_300_257.exe" (replace version number as applicable). If, when copying the Flash files to Firefox Portable's plugin folder, you neglect to copy this new file, Flash content will cause the browser to completely freeze.

Not this

Thanks for suggestion, but it's not the case. I copied all 3 necessary Flash files to FF plugin folder.

I resolved the problem anyway. I am not sure whether it was NoScript (it updated automatically today) or the Protected Mode I turned off following your advice. Either way, FF finally works smoothly.

Thanks again!

Adobe recommends disabling Protected Mode

"Adobe itself recommends disabling Protected Mode until a fix comes out that is resolving the issue. The company highlights that it highly recommends to enable Protected Mode again once the troubleshooting is complete."
