File syncing (cloud) service with a portable client app

I'm looking for a decent file syncing service (like Dropbox, Google Drive, SkyDrive, ...) that offers a 'portable' client program.

I'm not interested in it being hosted on PortableApps.com or it adhering to any PA.com standards.

It just needs to be 'portable' (no install, no registry, self contained).

The only one I found so far is TeamDrive, but I'm not too fond of the client or the service in general.
I'm hoping there's something else out there.

And oh yeah, they should offer some free storage.

Try this

Even though it isn't exactly what you're asking for, check out my portablization of CarotDAV which allows you to work with cloud services such as Dropbox and Google Drive. It doesn't have it's own service associated so keep that in mind if you decide to try it out.

Re: Try this

Thanks, I'll consider it.

In the mean time I'm still looking for other suggestions.

More specifically, CarotDAV

More specifically, CarotDAV is not a sync client, it only has upload/download features

@Aikiki: I am looking for the very same thing. What is it exactly that you're not happy with in TeamDrive. On a first look, it's awesome that they have a Linux version Smile

OwnCloud

I have no idea if the client application is portable or not, and it's a very hands on solution but have you tried OwnCloud? You'd either have to host it on a computer at home/work or find some decent web host (possibly free) that would host it adequately (bandwidth/free-space etc). So not for the faint of heart but a possible solution.

I've been tempted to try it but so far I've been sticking with a non-portable solution (SkyDrive), since I really only jump between 3 computers (2 at home and 1 at work).

Dropbox Portable

I have found DropboxPortableAHK to be excellent.

Even when you don't need Portability, it allows you to locate your Dropbox filesystem anywhere you like, and lets you have multiple different accounts on the one computer, and even supports sync'ing them concurrently!

Combined with a symbolic linking tool, lets you keep the files/folders you want to sync for any given DB account wherever you like, so if your free 18GB fills up on one you can just move some folders over to another account without moving them in your "canonical" filesystem.

I found it best to not actually try to sync the DBpAHK binaries themselves, have my folders set up like this:

DropboxPartitionRoot\
- \00_DropboxPortable
-- \accountName1
--- \Dropbox (data to be sync'd)
--- \DropboxPortableAHK (tool binaries)

-- \accountName2
-- \accountNameEtc

Hope that helps. . .
