I have problem that assigning i.e. .odt extension to OpenOfficePortable will work but then it gets sometimes lost. This behaviour is only on newer Versions (Win7/8). XP was working OK. Is it possible that since Win7 some "intelligence" checks if the drive where OpenOfficPortable is stored is available and - if not (like an USB drive) resets the file-type bindings??
Very strange and I can't google anything about it.
Anyone same experience?
Try using eXpresso - it will bind file types temporarily without modifying the host computer and is compatible with the PortableApps.com platform.
Here is a link http://gluxon.com/apps/eXpresso
unfortunately it doesn't work with Q-Dir. It only associates the apps with the Windows Explorer. And when you want to open files you downloaded in your browser it does not work either. The only way I found is to stay at the rival tool and wait for the built in file association in portableapps.
How about this? https://portableapps.com/node/15583
It will create file associations in the registry (does not require admin privileges) and remove them on exit.
I have not tested it yet, but I think it will accomplish what you want.
