Teamviewer forgets its settings

I regularly use Teamviewer Portable from PortableApps.com. I would appreciate it being able to save settings like "Close to tray", "Increase PIN complexity" and such. Whatever I change, it's gone and lost when I shut down Teamviewer and start it again.

Should be a question of Teamviewer's portable apps wrapper, right?

Teamviewer's portable version

Teamviewer's portable version (at least last I looked into it) is set to not store settings as the app's settings are stored in a part of the registry that require admin privileges to access - admin privileges mean it can't be made consistently portable on every machine so we have opted instead to not store those settings at all.

admin rights

So I understand running TeamviewerPortable (TVP) as admin would not help either, because TVP does not even attempt to store its settings?

I understood until now that PortableApps stored their settings in .ini's / .xml / ... and either set the app to do that, if it is designed to enable user's choice to do so anyway, or catches the app's registry access and virtualizes the registry for the app while in fact reading and editing local settings files.

Correct

It is difficult to portabilize settings only if you have admin rights and ignore them otherwise, plus it would confuse many users having their settings available on some computers and not on others so we have disabled the portabilization of settings altogether. This is a very rare case brought about by the requirement of admin privileges for settings in an app that doesn't otherwise require them - as far as I know every other officially released app that has settings have been made portable as you would expect.

There are posts around the forums on how to re-enable portabilization of Teamviewer's settings, so if you search for eg. "Teamviewer settings" and go through the list you may be able to find something that works, although none of those solutions are officially supported and none of them are guaranteed to work.

Thank you

I am not at all complaining, just trying to understand.

When I destroy my settings by manual manipulation I will not blame you, promised Wink

Edit: https://portableapps.com/node/23860 works for me.
