WinSplit Revolution

I don't know if this is the right place to do this, I guess it is.

I made WinSplit Revolution portable - meaning I made a PA launcher (and installer) for it, as it already exists in portable version in a ZIP file.

How can I post it so you can test it?

You are in the right place

You just need to post it here in the Beta Testing subforum.

We prefer beta posters to use the standard dev test template which you can either copy from here and modify as you need, or you can use Dev Test Thread Builder which will generate the standard template for you once you enter the details of your app.

Just one issue regarding WinSplit Revolution's CC BY-NC-ND 3.0 licence (and similar Creative Commons licences). There is a very grey legal area as to whether packaging an app in PortableApps format is creating a derivative work (not allowed by the licence) or is just redistribution (allowed by the licence). If you want to post it, you will either have to contact the developers and ask for permission to repackage it, or it will have to be an online installer.

regarding permission

I had gotten started this app myself, and recieved permission for us to do it. I'll post a copy of the permission to pastebin in the morning and link to it from here.

[EDIT] Here's the permission I received: http://pastebin.com/NyyhawHB

That's also a problem...permission!

Yeah, that's also something that I was asking next, whether I should talk to the dev team first or just post it here. The app is theoretically finnished and working, it's just a matter of somoene else testing it, anyone with more PA format experience than me (this is my first App). Anyway, I'll just try to reach the dev team, there should be no problem, I'm guessing...

Dev Team

You can post your app here in the forum with out the dev team permission for beta testing. The dev team is basically only app developers whose apps have gone official

Incorrect Assumption; Permission Granted:

I don't think he was talking about the PortableApps.com dev team, I think instead that he was speaking of the WinSplit Revolution dev team.

Also with the ambiguity of where a PortableApps.com release would fall under the CC-by-nc-nd license permission should be requested.

However on a happier note, Gord Caswell has received permission, so it shouldn't be much of a concern anymore. Wink

He stated

Yeah, that's also something that I was asking next, whether I should talk to the dev team first or just post it here.

That statement it sound like he was addressing the PortableApps Development Team which I am one of.

Also I had read Gord's post which I read and even went to the permission to read
