I bought a new computer and tried to connect USB to it. But the USB doesn't get detected. Can anyone help me in fixing this problem?

Does it work on another pc/with another USB stick?
Yes, I set the working directory!
Yes it works with another PC.
Do other USB drives work in the computer?
If it's a hardware issue:
Is your pc self built, or did you buy it from the store?
If it's from the store: return it and complain.
If it's self built: you'd better seek help on another forum (like the SBCC forum on the Computerhope forums).
If it's a "software" issue, we can help you here.
To determine this you can try to use the stick on the same pc, but on another operating system (if possible), like linux for example.

maybe its to obvious and seems stupid but did you try sticking it into another usb in your pc ?
cause i got small usb stick that look like this

in other words it dont have that metal box around that part you put into your usb
and for me from all 4 usb slots in my front panel of pc it only 1 slot detect it
while normal usb stick with that metal box around it are detected just fine in all usb slots in front panel
and try sticking another usb stick to your pc to see if it will detect it
