I actually asked this - a LONG time ago & now sorta running into same question.
Could be for ANY app from portableapps.com, but was looking on qbittorrent's forum.
Just looking at general info before diving into trying it.
Not trying to come down on anyone - but I'm confused. (don't shoot the messenger, here).
Do the dev's (or some) allowing PA.com to distribute their apps, say "we won't give support to users of your portable version?"
1) Noticed another qbittorrent forum poster being reminded, (paraphrased) "if you use the portable version from portableapps, don't expect support on (qbittorent's) forum. We only support the official releases." That's pretty close to the intended msg. That guy may've been wrong? He was nice, but "firm" on that position. (* No one corrected him. *)
2) I DON'T know that was a mod / admin, saying they don't support anything from portableapps. (No one corrected him).
3) I asked here a long time ago about some setting in qbittorrent (I wound up never using it) & was told, for specific details / tech support of how apps work, best to contact the dev's forum. paraphrasing "We only make the apps portable & provide support on portability issues," etc.
4) I suppose one could just not say they're using a portable version.
Please don't shoot.
Thanks.
If it's a base app setting, it's usually best to ask the developer and look in the official documentation. We generally support the portablization (aka making sure it's made portable, all the features work as intended, paths get updated, etc). For open source apps, sometimes we work with the publisher, sometimes we don't. If you're asking portable-related questions, they should be to us and the developer is right to refer you this way.
If a developer is refusing to tell you how to change the port used by torrent because you're using a different build of their app, they're just being petulant.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
